This new amplifier forms part of the next generation EVOLUTION 50 range of products. An ingenious new push button design has been developed for it, offering excellent tactile feel and backlit optical indication of usable functions for optimum user-friendliness. At the heart of any good amplifier lies a good power supply; The EVOLUTION 50A uses a 200 Watt toroidal mains transformer with separate windings for high and low current analogue and digital circuitry. This solution produces a good power to weight ratio and low magnetic interference. Creek's policy of paralleling several low impedance capacitors to create an ultra-high specification capacitor to smooth the DC also helps to produce a very powerful and accurate sound from such a relatively small amplifier. Creek's Senior Engineer - David Gamble - has much experience in the audio industry. He has developed a completely new bi-polar transistor power amplifier circuit especially for the EVOLUTION 50A with very high open-loop gain and low distortion. Featuring a pair of Sanken 15Amp power transistors, with built-in thermal compensation for rapid bias tracking performance, the Power Amplifier circuit has very low output impedance and can produce high output current. This combination will provide exceptional speed and control over most loudspeakers. David also developed a completely new analogue Pre-amp circuit, providing high levels of flexibility and control, via unbalanced or balanced inputs. It has multiple input options, switched electronically or via gold contact relays, plus electronic Volume, Balance and Tone controls. For Vinyl fans, an optional Sequel Phono pre-amp can be plugged-in, substituting Line Input 1 for Phono. In addition, there is another input available, should the user want to fit an optional Tuner module. The computer control will sense this and respond accordingly. A stylish new system remote handset has been developed to control all the functions of the EVOLUTION 50A.

The amplifier sounds incredible, I switched from my 20 year old EAR859 tube amp. If I had to criticize, I'd say the bass can be a little slow, especially on fast transients, it sometimes lacks attack. The remote control doesn't power on/off the amp and it's short on inputs. The AV direct input is handy though (bypasses preamp and volume control). I wish you could rename the inputs on the OLED display, and I have pushed it into overheat shutdown. But it sounds fantastic, very smooth and natural, no graininess that solid state amps usually have (I'm thinking you NAD). I am docking a star for no remote power control and no input renaming. I haven't tried the headphone output yet because I used a Schiit Asgard. But the subtlety, timber and ambience is amazing. Recommended.

QNAP VS-2012-PRO-US 2-Bay NVR 12-Channel Surveillance System Review

I upgraded to the vs-2012-pro from the vs-2008-pro, so I already knew I had to upgrade the firmware to get it worked with my foscam fi8905w cameras. I was not sure if it would have worked with my ptz camera (Agasio A622W), but it worked flawlessly and even added features based on the qnap built In software.
After upgraded the firmware finding the camera was easy, the full time recorded was a feature I was very interested in, and that works perfectly. I have 2 WD 3TB hard drives installed. Initializing them gave me a little trouble but once that was completed the combination of them with the unit was perfect. After about 2 weeks of continous recording from 3 camers the unihaunt used 35% of the hard drives running raid 1 mirroring.
The unit is work 5 stars or atleast 4.5, however the search algorithms need a little work. The motion detection works well, but I have been unable to get the added item or missing item to work. I tested it using a 5 gallon bucket about 100' away from the camera with no luck.
I will update my review as I add more cameras and test the unit more.
I would definitely recommend buy this type of unit.

Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6L USM Zoom Lens Review

This lens doesn't get a lot of reviews. Maybe because it is an older lens. However, it performs awesome. I really like using it. The range is incredible. Works well with my Canon 10D or 1D Mark II N. It is not as fast when zoomed in and 5.6 aperture is criminal but I can get really close to the subjects. It is heavy at 5lbs and after taking a few hours of snapshots you get to wish you had a lighter lens. The quality of the photos is amazing though. It may not be as sharp as the newest Canon 24-105mm but it's up there with the L lens professional quality you want. Much much better than my yellow band 28-105mm but the price is lifting and lugging this moster around to get better photos. If you can only take one lens for 10 days, this is the only one you need. No image stabilization so you have to crank your ISO way up to get good results and no shake, I learned that the hard way. I was shooting at 350mm with too slow shutter and it showed blurry at the end of the day.

I was pumped that when I received delivery, mine had an upgraded DVR to 4TB! Night vision is incredible and is among the highest quality pictures I've seen. The only thing I didn't realize when I purchased (although it's mentioned in the description) is that the 2 big cameras don't have cables to hook to the DVR. Had to purchase online separately which cost me an additional $120.
