The Zeiss Ikon super wide-angle lens allows photographers to experiment with different angles and perspectives. The Biogon T* 2,8/21 ZM offers outstanding performance and xtreme resolving power even when shot wide open, with virtually no distortion, excellent control of flare and ghosting and superb contrast rendition across the entire frame. The slim lens design is easy to grip and focus and uses a standard 46 mm filter diameter similar to many of the other ZM lenses and allows filters to be interchanged between the lenses. The lens is rangefinder coupled for easy focusing and the optional 21 mm viewfinder is available for accurate image composition. Combined with a digital rangefinder camera with a 1.3 crop factor, the lens has an effective focal length of 27 mm. The Biogon T* 2,8/21 ZM is suitable for many different wideangle applications including reportage work, landscape and architectural photos.

What's so surprisingly good about the Zeiss 21mm ZM lens is its sharpness across the frame. It's astonishing, honestly, to see how much sharpness you get within an image. I can pixel-peep my images from my M-E and see barely any distortion or fudging of details. Wide-open, it's even somewhat fast enough for available light photography. I wouldn't quite drop it under 1/25th, though.

It's worth noting, however, that these lenses do not come with a 21mm finder. Zeiss offers one at considerable price, but I recommend the cheaper Voigtlander 21mm finders or Leica's old 'SBKOO' 21mm chrome finder for the hotshoe. You can get the latter for 250-ish USD used at the time of writing. Composing without one with a .72 / .85 finder is nearly hopeless.
