Looked at dozens of cabinets for our new 60" plasma before coming on this Furnitech unit that had great styling and all of the features I was looking for to house our 4 components and large center speaker. And based on my discussions with Eric at Furnitech, it appeared to be well constructed. So I placed the order, with just a little trepidation as this was my first furniture purchase over the net.

Eric told me they unbox and inspect every unit just prior to shipment which made me feel a bit more confident. Well the unit arrived in less than a week and in perfect condition. Since these units come from Brazil, the packaging was very robust and well thought out. Being a bit of a perfectionist I noticed that the gaps around one of the glass doors was uneven by 1/16". But the unit has quality "european" style hinges which allowed me to get the gaps perfect in less than a minute.

The cherry color and grain are better than what comes through on Furnitech's web site. Its a really nice piece of furniture and we are very pleased.

I did my research and looked at quite a few monitors for use with my camcorder that I could also use with my DSLR camera. While the Marshall monitors are very nice, they are far too expensive and they make you buy expensive adapters if you want to have different inputs. I looked at several Lilliput monitors and I noticed two things 1) the way their descriptions are worded on Amazon you are left wonder just what it is exactly that you are getting. 2) I also read that some people bought them and they had short lives or were DOA. Not good.
I took a hard look at Ikan's monitor products and saw this one and the 5 inch version of this one that have waveform monitor, vectorscope and rgb parade built in along with a whole list of other really nice features including DSLR scaling. This is also one of the few monitors I could find that actually has HDMI throughput (ie HDMI in AND HDMI out). This allows you to feed either another monitor for the production director to view or feed a capture device.
I am a professional when i comes to video and when I saw this model has a built in waveform monitor and vectorscope, I had to take an even closer look since I'm used to using a separate piece of test equipment for those purposes. This is going to make it really easy to calibrate the outputs of video cameras and my DSLR to ensure perfect color match between the two cams and perfect exposure every time.
I am using a Sony NEX-VG-30H camcorder with this and occasionally a Nikon D3200 DSLR camera with this monitor.

The Pros: Vectorscope, waveform monitor and video monitor (and lots of other cool helpful features) all built into one piece of really nice equipment. �-20 mounting holes to mount to an articulated arm or to your tripod and even comes with a hotshoe adapter to mount it to your camera/camcorder hotshoe adapter, which I would personally not do because of the weight of the monitor. The kit also comes packed in what appears to be a fairly sturdy somewhat heavy duty aluminum-framed padded case. Nice.

The Cons: The battery, in this case, is HUGE but that's the extra price you pay for portability. Don't let that deter you unless a little extra weight is a problem. The battery charger this kit comes with took the better part of 12 hours to charge the battery! This unit comes with two ac 12vdc adapters - one for use with the charger and one for use with the monitor. The directions do not tell you which one is which. The two ac adapters are interchangeable and it may be that the battery took a long time to charge because I used the smaller of the two adapters on the charger. I am planning on buying the official Sony L-battery charger to replace the cheap (in my opinion) charger this kit comes with.

While, thanks to HDMI, Toslink is not so often used to connect a DVD player to an A/V receiver, Toslink connectors are common on cable-boxes, TV sets, subwoofers, all sorts of products. And now, the 3.5mm Mini Optical connector, also somewhat incorrectly known as Mini-Toslink, is everywhere ... from the 3.5mm dual-purpose headphone jack on a Mac laptop, to inputs on some of the finest portables.

When the question is "how can a fiber-optic cable change the sound?" ... the answer is easier to explain than for almost any other type of cable. If the light source were a coherent laser, firing into a vacuum, all the light would stay straight, arriving at its destination at the same time. Even if the LED light source in a Toslink system were coherent, the light entering a fiber-optic cable is scattered and dispersed by imperfections and impurities in the fiber. This can be measured as a loss of amplitude ... but amplitude is not the problem, a 50% true loss would have no effect on sound quality.

The problem is that the dispersed light does get through the cable, but only after it has taken a longer path, like a pool ball bouncing off the side-rails, causing it to arrive later. This delayed part of the signal prevents the computer charged with decoding this information from being able to decode properly, or even at all. The inability to decode shows first at higher frequencies (not audio frequencies, this is a mono stream of digital audio informa-tion), so reduced bandwidth is a measurable signature of light being dispersed by a fiber. The punch line: The less dispersion in the fiber, the less distortion in the final analog audio signal presented to our ears.

I am thoroughly impressed with the phone and the OS and had no issues switching to the Windows Phone. They have done an outstanding job helping to transfer information regardless of previous OS/preference.

The phone is clean, responsive and easily customized. Even more so than I imagined.

I was looking forward to moving to a Windows Phone, so I was expecting maybe a little bit of a let down once I actually obtained one, but I couldn't be happier.

The only downside to this phone is the limited storage and no ability to upgrade it. But with the skydrive sync it will just require a little closer management of media files.

Home Style 5520-34 Aspen 3-Piece Entertainment Center, Rustic Cherry Review

Okay, if your like us, we thought about this entertainment center for a while. We looked around the internet and couldn't find any reviews at all on this particular 3 piece package. I don't write many reviews but, I try on products that don't have any at all so, here we go.

First, I'm an amazon prime member and it actually arrived in two days via fedex. There are a total of 6 boxes. Box 1 62 lbs, box 2 47 lbs, box 3 62 lbs, box 4 47 lbs, box 5 88 lbs, and box 6 66 lbs. They were shipped from Indiana, according to the fedex tracking. ON the item details on here, it says the weight of this item is 60 something pounds but, that is incorrect.

Now, we started on the assembly around 9:00 am and finished around 5 pm and we are pretty good on putting things together. The biggest problem came with the camlocks not catching the cam screw. Make sure you have a big philips and flathead available, to help with tightening.

Lets talk quality on this unit. First, it's extremely heavy once assembled and is solid as a rock. Now, I do find there is one thing unexpected on quality. The back panel is probably 1/8 inch solid wood on all 3 pieces. Its not cardboard of any sort and works very well. Again, just wasn't expecting that so, just wanted to put that in the review.

Why i'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 stars: Now, I have two dislikes with this unit. On each side cabinet, there is only one whole for the top and one whole for the bottom section. If you have more than one piece of electronics, you already know this isn't going to work. However, this can be fixed easily. Get one of the drill bits for drilling wholes like that and your done. Once I figured out exactly where my shelves were going, I drilled my wholes. Next, these cabinets are not extremely deep, for example. My direct tv hd-dvr with chords in back is pressing up against the molding in the front. The same goes for my Sony Home Theater Reciever. We had to stand it up on its side, connect all wires, and then push inward and lay it down. It is pressing against the molding as well. Just something to think about. Now, all gaming systems fit perfectly and probably just about everything else will too.

Now, the doors and the drawers. The doors are very shallow so, don't expect to put much in them at all. Its great for game controllers and small accessories to your electronics. Behind the doors, there are wholes in the back panel for wiring as well. The doors are magnetic closing but, not the clicker type magnetic doors that you push to click and open. Also, the drawer handles are pretty heavy duty and nice.

Overall, I'm pretty darn happy with this 3 piece entertainment center. Its solid wood, heavy duty, and has plenty of shelves for your gear. If I missed anything or you have any questions, feel free to send a comment, I'll do my best to help.
