JBL Synchros S700 Premium Powered Over-Ear Stereo Headphones, White Review

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to try out the new JBL Synchros S700 on ear headphones. These come boxed with a White cardboard outer sleeve that has a large picture of the headphones printed on it. Remove the sleeve and you find an Orange and white cardboard case. The interior lining and inner carton is black.
JBL includes in the package:
* The JBL Synchros S700 On ear Powered Stereo headphones with Li-ion battery

* 1 Three button ISO (Apple) remote/microphone cable / side angled 3.5mm connection

* 1 Three button Universal (Android,Samsung,LG,HTC,Windows etc) remote/microphone cable /side angled 3.5mm connection

* 1 Cable for USB charging

* A Leather (like?) carrying case printed with !JBL on one side and Synchros on the other . The case is of excellent quality. The interior is lined in a short plush pile. There is also a netted area to hold all of the cables.

* A quick start guide

The headphones have an excellent build quality.The frame is die-cast aluminum and features luxurious leather ear cushions. The same buttery soft leather lines the headband. The headphones are heavy. I can wear them for about a hour or so before needing a break.The headband is adjustable by a slide out feature on each side. The headband slide out area is printed (etched) with numbers on each side so that you can level the ear cups. The ear cups also swivel. The headband is not foldable. The interior above each ear cup is marked L (left) or R (right). The left ear cup has the 3.5mm jack connection point. Note: This is also where you attach the charging cord.You cannot use the headphones while they are charging. A Charge is supposed to last over 20 hours. The power button to activate the LiveStage DSP feature is located on the outside of the left ear cup. To activate that feature you press and hold the the JBL logo till a small white light is illuminated. Press and hold again to deactivate.

Performance: My expectations were heightened by the hype of the LiveStage DSP feature. To the best of my understanding this feature when activated is supposed to recreate the sense of spatial presence that you feel when listening to loudspeakers in a room. I have also seen it described as a feature that recreates the experience of listening to a live performance. <---- Im just not sure!!!

I first tried these in passive mode ( LiveStage DSP feature turned off. The headphones do not have to be charged to work in this mode) They sounded excellent without the LiveStage DSP on. If you love bass you will love these. The notes are rich, clear and not muddy. Truly excellent sounds! These do not have active noise cancellation but they do a great job of blocking out outside noises. Also they have almost ZERO noise leakage !
I next tried them with the LiveStage DSP engaged. I am not an audiophile but I honestly did NOT notice any improvement in sound. Perhaps it's me or maybe it's a gimmick?

Overall, I really liked these headphones.They sound great but I feel they are a bit overpriced at the current selling price of three hundred and forty nine dollars. At that price point you have many other amazing headphones with features such as Bluetooth and active noise cancellation. I feel these are great but I would do heavy research before making a purchase.

Garmin Edge is great when works. Ocassionally I have to reset menus as they inadvertently change what data is displayed. Provides numerous options for data and great indepth information on my rides. However their software provided to load on your computer is not as extensive as their Garmin Connect cloud data storage which is another story. I have had problems connecting, finding my data and loading new rides into my data bank. I have not bee able to load data for the last two days. Garmin customer service is pitiful. I tried to call today but was told 35 minute wait. Email for the problem said I could expect a response within three days. I am glad I am not a pro depending on this data to train. Why can't they just provide me with this software that I can load on my own computer!
