Product Description
The Ikelite 6242.10 Underwater Housing for Canon S100 Digital Camera is an injection-molded clear polycarbonate case, known for its strength and corrosion-free properties. It permits you to shoot underwater with your Canon PowerShot S100 digital camera. The housing features a depth rating of 200' (60 m). All camera functions except the rear control dial are fully accessible via the mechanical controls. An easy-open latch and drop-in camera loading make set-up a breeze. Two 12-24 threaded mounts on the bottom of the housing allow for the secure, rotation-free attachment of optional trays and lighting accessories. The housing comes with a 1cc tube of silicone lubricant, a flash diffuser, a flash deflector, a vinyl port cover and a break-away lanyard. | The included flash diffuser improves lighting quality when the camera's built-in flash is used. A built-in flash is effective from 1.0 - 3.0' (0.3 - 0.9 m) away from your subject in clear conditions. To achieve the best results, an external underwater strobe is recommended. This will bring out the natural color of your subject and reduce the illumination of particles suspended in the water, known as backscatter. An optional Ikelite AutoFlash AF35 can provide additional light with easy automatic exposure. You may also use an optional DS Substrobe with EV Manual Controller for more power and wider angle of coverage (strobes not included).Ikelite Waterproof Underwater Housing for Canon S100 Digital Camera Review
Hello,I've upgraded from a sealife camera and flash to a S100 + ikelite housing + INON s2000 flash.
I'm having a MAJOR problem with the housing.
The back buttons... just doesnt work when i get the housing wet.
It works when its dry but as soon as I get to the swiming pool.. they stop workin and it doesnt matter how strong i push them.
I sent the housing to Ikelite.. in USA (from brazil) and they have fixed it for me for free (i just bought it. Its on warranty).
BUT... can you belive that it is not entirely fixed !!?!
The buttons got a better "feel" .. and some are working now.. but there are still 2 buttons (the play and the menu (config) button) that still doesnt work.
Now you think:
1 - You buy a BRAND NEW housing... and it cames broken from the factory
2 - You send it back t the factory... and they say that it indeed had a problem and is fixed.
3 - You recieve it .. try in the water.. and see that it STILL has the problem.
I am giving up. I wish i had made some better internet resarch before (i did.. but i didnt use the following search in google: "s100 ikelite button problem"
Search it and you will see. SEVERAL people have the same problem.
Here in brazil.. i personaly meet 2 other persons who bought.. .had the same problem.. and finished returning or changing the housing. They had money to do that.. i dont.
So.. do our resarch.. and see.. that Ikelite is a very bad option on this S100 housing.
I've heard a lot that Ikelite is in the market for more then 30 years and they make good products. I belive that... but... i think they got something wrong on the design of this housing because several people had the same problem.. and something was fixed on my housing (they said that they fixed.. so ..there was something wrong).
Just to clarufy: they said that fixed.. but I STILL have the problem on 2 buttons.
I .. will NEVER buy ikelite again.... Sorry to say that .. because they are the cheapes option. (probably .. that's why they are much cheaper... )
