These binoculars give you a super clear image. Living in the world of HD lenses, most people would probably be hesitant to buy these because they are not HD but I have looked through both and I really cannot tell much difference between the two types. The light transmission these binoculars give is nothing short of total amazement. I love the performance these give and also love how comfortable they are to grip and hold. They collect light so well during low light situations such as twilight making it easy to see at near dark. A lot of this is due to the 56mm objectives coupled with low 8 power magnification. Also this being an older design binocular dating back to 1936 has a simpler prism system inside of it as compared to the newer more updated models of today which I understand is part of the reason for them having a little advantage on better light transmission over the newer models. Years ago I had a pair of Zeiss 7x42 Dialyt binoculars that I thoroughly enjoyed and ended up getting rid of them and have regretted it ever since especially now that they are discontinued. These 8x56 Dialyts that I have recently purchased are so very similar to my old ones with exception to the larger power and objective. Needless to say I will never let these go especially with them being the only roof prism Dialyt left that Zeiss still currently makes. These binoculars can only be had on a special order basis and it usually takes 8-10 weeks to get them. The dealer I bought these from just so happened to have a new pair on hand without me having to go through the wait. My guess is that Zeiss will eventually drop these in due time because most people are buying the more modern updated models. I would very highly recommend the 8x56 Dialyts to any one who likes having and using a high end binocular. You definitely will not go wrong. I also love the old nostalgic look these have. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Carl Zeiss Optical 8x56 BGA T Dialyt Binocular" are high quality item.
